Today I am going to explain in very simple wordings that What is freelancing? What is Fiverr? Who is a freelancer? I will also explain how freelancers earn money through freelancing.
Before I start, let me share with you that I am a successful freelancer. I am a top-rated seller on Upwork. And a level-2 seller on Fiverr.
So, first of all, let us talk about what is freelancing and who is a freelancer. Explaining them together will also clarify the difference between freelancing and freelancer.
What is freelancing? What is Fiverr? Who is a freelancer?
A freelancer is a person who offers his/her services online. Those services can be any service.
For example, those services can be:
- Logo Designing Services
- Article Writing Services
- Website Development Services
- Video editing and animation services
- Virtual Assistant Services
- Photo retouching services
Like the above services, there are hundreds of other services that freelancers provide. Every freelancer provides services in which he/she has professional skills.
For example, a freelancer who is good at video editing and has professional skills, that freelancer provides video editing services.
And there are clients online who hire these freelancers and pay them for their services. I will explain next in this post how freelancers find these clients online.
So, all this process is called Freelancing.
Let me tell you some more interesting things about freelancing
Unlike traditional 9-5 jobs, in freelancing, a freelancer is not bound to work under one boss. And can work with anyone or with multiple clients independently.
A freelancer does not have to dress up every day early morning and go to some office physically like traditional jobs. Freelancers can simply work from their homes and also can also wear anything informal.
If you have a physical shop/store, and when you have to travel somewhere then you have to close that shop. When you close that shop then your earnings stop as well.
But in freelancing even if you would have to travel somewhere, you can easily manage your clients. You would just need your laptop and wifi (which you can also share from your mobile), and you are good to go.
Who is the boss of freelancers? (What is freelancing? What is Fiverr? Who is a freelancer?)
Freelancers do not have any bosses. They are self-employed.
There is no fixed time to work like there is usually 9-5 job time in traditional jobs. In freelancing, a freelancer can set their time according to his/her own convenience.
In traditional jobs, an employee just performs their daily work tasks and come back home after ending office hours.
But in freelancing, in addition to work, a freelancer has to manage all the other below tasks too:
- Finding a client
- Gathering requirements from the client
- Dealing with client
- Working on the project
- Delivering the work on time
- Working on revisions
- Handling disputes
- Giving customer support to clients
- Satisfying the clients with the great work
- Maintaining their freelance profiles
If we talk about earnings, then from earning point of view freelancing is not like traditional jobs. In traditional jobs, you just get a fixed income at the end of the month.
But in freelancing, a freelancer can earn unlimited using his/her great work skills, communication skills, and great strategies. Many freelancers also form agencies after getting success in a freelance career.
Now it is clear what is a freelancer and what is freelancing basically.
So, let us move next and discuss how freelancers find clients and what is Fiverr, and the role of Fiverr in online earning.
How do freelancers find clients online?
There are so many websites online like upwork.com, guru.com, etc where clients from all over the world post jobs.
On these websites, there are two types of users which are clients and freelancers. When clients post jobs then freelancers go on that job post and send the proposal.
Then the client can accept one of the proposals of a particular freelancer and be aware of him/her job. Or a client can directly search for a service on these websites.
And against his/her search there will be many freelancers in research results who would be offering the services for which the client searched.
Now clients can open any freelancer’s profile and discuss their requirements with that freelancer and also can hire that freelancer.
Before hiring they both mutually agree on requirements, cost, and the timeframe of the work. After hiring the freelancer complete the work and deliver it to the client.
When the client accepts the work then the freelancer gets paid.
These websites are also called freelance platforms.
What is Fiverr?
Fiverr is also one of these freelances platforms.
Basically, fiverr.com works the same as other platforms that I explained above. Fiverr is different than upwork and other freelance platforms in terms of features, but the main work of all freelance platforms is the same.
Now if you are a client who is looking for a freelancer. Then you can simply search in the search bar about the service that you need and there will come so many results. And then you can choose the best suitable freelancer according to your selection criteria.
But if you want to work as a freelancer on Fiverr. Then on the top menu, you will click on “Become a seller”.
Then it will walk you through step by step to sign up as a seller.
